Michael received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Arts with an emphasis on printmaking and photography. Always eager to experiment  and continue his drawing interests and ideas in non-realistic imagery, Michael concentrated in a printmaking process known as stone lithography.

Michael's interest in lithography took him to graduate school where he earned his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in printmaking and painting.

​Lucero has shown his work both nationally and internationally and is included in several permanent collections.

​

Michael has been drawn to the Western Landscape since his teenage years. He can often be found exploring the mountains and deserts of the American West. Not a stranger to the Four Corners Area, Michael has been photographing the area in both color and black and white.
